Title: PhotoAcute still supported?
Post by: Neptunos on February 24, 2015, 09:49:21 AM
Is the product still alive & supported? I tried to contact support to submit new profiles but did not get any answers. Just wondering if there will be new development in the future or not.

Dear PhotoAcute users,

It's time to confess and apologize.

In the end of the last year we found ourselves in a situation when we have no resources to develop and support PhotoAcute without a harm to our projects. At the moment we do not support PhotoAcute anymore, so we do not produce the profiles as well.

We still hope to revitalize the project in future but I cannot give any warranty.

Please accept our apologies. Everyone who feels they have to get a refund please let us know by sending a message to info@almalence.com

Eugene, thank you for some clarity.  It's a disappointment, but business decisions are what they are.

If a final decision is made to not continue PA, perhaps you could sell the product to another group?  If not, open-source it?

PA is the best, and only really functional, super-resolution software out there.  I use it regularly.

Hi Eugene,

have things improved at all? it's killing me that PhotoAcute is more relevant today than it has ever been... with the release of the RX100 m4 for example, which provides 16fps with an electronic shutter and stabilised lens... in a pocketable camera with 1" 20MP sensor crying out for this software.

With global shutter cameras just around the corner, now is the absolute *best* time I can imagine to reinvigorate PhotoAcute development.

What do you say?

It's been about a year - any news?  I am about to replace my two cameras with brand-new models that PA does not support, so I'll be losing super-resolution capability.

Photoacute is such a great software! I still use it quite often to increase resolution, and still haven't found another software able to do it! My camera is not fully supported, but i use the nearest configuration and it works very well. I would love to see an updated version!

Imho PhotoAcute was way too expensive.  The prohibitive pricing is certain to have scared away many, many potential users. Also, Marketing and PR appear to have been detrimental to the program suite's success. I am certain that a restart that adresses these issues would be successful because the apps themselves are outstanding.

Dear Sirs.
Dear sw developers.

Please, I have an important request. If possible, you contact the creators DxO Optics. Sw DxO Optics has a huge and constantly updated database to guard profiles photographic cameras. It has not yet implemented the module for SuperResolution technology. It could be a great way to preserve the development great sw PhotoAcute.

Well thank you.

Best regards,
Maximus

Hi Eugene

Would it be possible to get a license to use the existing software?

Are you planning on returning to develop the software?  If so I'd be happy to help by uploading camera data etc.

Roger

Hi, I've just found your great "PhotoAcute". Tried the free version and very impressed that I can take the better & better images with your "PhotoAcute".
But I've disappointed at the same time that you don't continue the development ,then you don't sell this product any more.
If you don't mind please send me reg code too of the 3.016 windows x64?

I, too, have just discovered this software so am somewhat disappointed that I cannot currently purchase a licence.  I see you have previously corresponded by PM with users asking how they may possibly gain access to the full version of the software.  Can I also receive a registration code?

Thank you.

Jeff

Hello PA creators, Eugene

I've discovered your soft and am toying with it , not really mastering it for now I must admit '^^

Is this still possible to buy you a registration code? Thank you !

Just bought a RX100 IV and got really disappointed with photoshop results for image stacking, so I tried your software and it works sooo much better while being far easier to use!

Is there anyway I could get a registration code?

Or is there any plan to release the old version for free or sell it again?

Thanks.

I don't know what do you plan for future versions, but I would be glad to see someday a release for iOS and Android, modern phones and tablets are quite powerful and so quite capable for raw processing, plus if I can stack my pictures on the go that would gain me a lot of time.

Just let me thank you for this amazing piece of software in the name of the photographers community. I have to join the ones who wrote before me to say that this program shouldn't disappear like this. Maybe if you don't want to make it opensource, you can sell the company altogether to someone, because I'm sure that there would be a great interest in buying it. Until these decisions are made, can you please tell me how can I get a license? Thanks for everything.

Hi Eugene,

Good news that you plan to continue PhotoAcute.  My offer to help out in any way that I can still stands.  (50+ years of photo and SW development experience.)

Hi Eugene,

Thank to you and all the team for such a great piece of software. Hope to see any kind of updated/redefined version of product some day.

As I still don`t know better super-resolution solution for desktop platforms, may I ask you to share a reg code for abandoned version?

I just tried this application for Mavic Air images, and it is fantastic. Imagine how disappointed I was when I could not buy it...
Is there a way to buy a registration code for a Mac version somewhere else? Once I have seen the result, the original images look like crap  :-[

Thanks

Hello Eugene.

If you are unable to continue developing PhotoAcute, please consider open sourcing it. There are quite a few developers that would be interested in continuing the project as a free and open source tool for everyone to enjoy.

DeepSkyStacker just went through something similar. After more than a decade of being proprietary software, the owner open sourced the code earlier this year, and it is now hosted on github with contributions from numerous independent developers.

I completely understand if you do not wish to open source PhotoAcute, but I would highly recommend considering it.

Sadly, making PhotoAcute open source is not an option, because it contains proprietary IP that is used in our technologies for smartphone imaging, etc.

Hi,
I too wonder if it's possible to use the full version. I’m exploring various way of reducing noise in my night shots. I'm using a Mac, I wonder if it’s possible to get a registration code.

Thanks in advance :)

I just discovered this amazing piece of software. After downloading the trial I've been experimenting with it and it works very well.

Please, is there any way for me to obtain the full version without watermarks?

Hi Eugene,
Really impressed with your software, happy, like many other to use it as it is without support.
Just can you please reopen the order page & take my money for a reg code for the Pro version.
Cheers,
Peter

you wrote that you want to further develop the software.

Would it be possible to get a license for the meantime to use the existing software?

Even if unsupported, is there a way I can buy the a pro license key?  I just discovered this software and it's excellent!  It may actually help us help the investigating officer identify the vehicle that stole our construction work trailer and all of our tools.  I've not found any other options out there on the market that has helped to the extent this program has helped!  Thanks.

I hope that time and resources will allow you to continue your work on PhotoAcute.

Thanks,

Don

Hi Eugene, I'm a PhotoAcute 2.0 registered user, any chance of getting a code for latest version 3?
There still isn't any viable alternatives so I really hope PhotoAcute development can continue...
I'm part of the Nvidia beta testing for GameWorks Materials & Textures for the AI Super-Resolution module and it doesn't come close to PhotoAcute's sharpness and actual resolution increases. Also, Photoshop's new CC 2018 with it's experimental feature option for 'Preserve Details 2.0' enlargement also does not retain the sharpness and actual resolution increases of PhotoAcute...
I believe all your users would very much welcome a very small update to PA ver4.0 by adding an option to process their own camera profiles locally, I would pay $2,000 for a module that can process the camera profiles  ;) (even if it worked just with the current version 3)
All the best, and hoping for continued development of PA.

Hey Eugene,

I have an old license for Photoacute (from 2008) and would like to install it on my Mac. The original reg numbers don't work with PhotoAcute version 3, and I don't have the old version anymore.

Can you help me by providing a code for using V3? Or perhaps a workaround for downloading the old version?

I'm happy to share the original invoice info with you.

Thanks,
John

Sad to see PhotoAcute is not under development.  Good program. I used it years ago but my licence code doesn't work.  Might I get a new code?  I am now running Win 10 64.

Eugene, PhotoAcute is still not for sale according to the web site.  Is there any news about an updated version of PhotoAcute beyond V3.016?

I use a Canon 7D and I love the way the trial version of PhotoAcute reduces the noise and increases the resolution.  It is great for scenics taken with an older camera.

If there are no plans for releasing an update soon is it possible for you to send me a registration code so I can use V3.016 and get rid of the watermarks when I save images?

In any case, thank you very much for the registration code.
